Dogs have been man's best friend for a very long time. Originally used for protection, herding, war, and of course companionship, dogs have adapted and been adapted to more tasks than any other domesticated animal. As time has gone on, they have been more and more specialized, just as our jobs have.
Today, dogs help keep us safe from bombs on airplanes, help find lost children, track down criminals, save people trapped in avalanches and collapsed buildings, find arsonists, detect cancer, and yes, help us find where elusive insects are hiding.
The common thread in all those jobs is that we are relying on the dog's sense of smell to find what we can't. There is plenty of research and numbers out there about just how many thousands of times better they are at smelling things than we are. Please feel free to research them if you want, and if we can help you let us know.
What we know is that they help us care for our customers in ways we could never do without them, and that is what matters to us.
This makes them worth more than we can every repay them in kibble, and yet, they don't mind, as they live to work.
